Be Nice Day Press Release

The inaugural Bay Radio Be Nice Day was not only lots of fun it was a great success too! Walkers of all ages from Barx, in Valencia to Mojacar in Almeria took to the streets to raise money for their local charity and Caritas the nationwide charity helping feed the unemployed. The youngest ‘walker’ was Finn Comasky aged 9 ½ months, but no one has yet owned up to being the oldest! Money was raised to help a wide variety of charities with Help organisations, cancer charities, animal rescue charities and Alzheimer suffers amongst the beneficiaries.

The event aimed to unite charities and communities in a unique fundraising effort and it did just that with some of the local mayors deciding to Be Nice and get involved by starting the walks and cutting the ribbon, handing out water to the walkers and the mayor of Vergel even did the walk in fancy dress. The charities involved have shown their creativity by organising country walks, mountain walks, beach walks, a tapas trail and even a pub crawl round the village of Busot that lasted 3 hours!

Once the walks were completed several of the charities took the opportunity to carry on the fun and fundraising by organising a day of festivities including raffles, stalls, auctions and concerts. Tony Robinson alias Baldrick was the highest bidder on a guitar at one of the auctions. Everyone involved had a great time and the charities who took part are already planning their events for next year, when it is rumoured to be bigger and better!

Bay Radio is running 7 competitions linked to sponsorship and we are currently waiting for all the money to be collected by the charities before awarding the prizes. Whilst all the money has not yet been received by the charities early indications are that it looks like a significant amount of funds have been raised so it’s a win for charity and a much needed boost for the needy. Bay Radio would like to give a big thank you to all the people who took part and of course to all the dedicated charity workers who did a magnificent job.
