Policia Nacional detain three in connection with smuggled baby

Policia Nacional have arrested three women who tried to smuggle a baby into the Spanish enclave of Melilla.

Officers stopped a vehicle at the Port shortly before boarding a ship to the mainland, and noticed discrepancies with the child’s paperwork.

Upon further investigation they found over €11,000 of cash hidden amongst the child’s nappies.

The child has been taken into care, whilst the three women have been remanded in custody ahead of trial.
