As every year, the Calendar of Events are quiet at the beginning of January. There are San Anton and San Sebastian Fiestas this weekend and the usual selection of Markets.

The dates for the very popular Medieval Market in Orihuela have been confirmed as the first weekend in February. This is a must for your diaries and is well worth experiencing.

The last weekend of the San Anton celebrations will take place in Alicante with the Parade and Blessing of the Animals on Sunday morning. It will be the 17th annual Day of the Pigs Fiesta in La Mata where, on Sunday from 12:00 onwards you can queue to receive your free cooked pork chop, a slice of bread, stick of celery and a drink!

This weekend the San Sebastian celebrations will take place in Javea, where there will be Bull Running in the Historic Centre. It is the first weekend of the San Anton Fair in Benissa with the 6th Craft Fair, Wine Tasting, Traditional Dancing, Collectors Fair, Parade of Horses and Carriages and the Blessing of the Animals.

The San Sebastian Fiesta finishes in Ricote this weekend with the Carnival Float Parade on Saturday afternoon, and a Solemn Procession on both Friday and Sundayevening. Added to this is the annual Medieval Market, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Murcia UCAM CF play at home on Saturday against Zaragoza, with kick off scheduled for 8pm.
