BayRadio Charity Golf Day - 22nd September 2010

Proceeds in favour of EMAUS the local charity that provides round-the-clock support to handicap children and a shelter for abused women.

Date is 22nd September - it's a Wednesday and we have checked to make sure it doesn't clash with other major events. (We had a lot of upset golfers for the previous charity day as it coincided with a number of other similar activities. So we have doubled checked for this one.)

Format is a pairs fourball - which means that even if you have a rubbish game you can hopefully depend on your partner. It is also a format which allows most players of any handicap to compete and enjoy the round.

We have space for 150 players and we will limit the entries to that number so that we can have a shotgun start. This means that everyone starts and finishes within a few minutes of each other.

Location is Alicante Golf - one of the most popular courses in Spain.

Cost is heavily subsidised by Alicante and is set at 55 Euros which will include green fees, buggy and buffet lunch.

Loads of prizes including golf equipment and leisure activities your the winner and their family and friends.

Email entry to with name and handicap and you can also include any others in your party if you wish to do so.

Or talk to Noel Eastwell if you have any questions - 639 730 891.

Jávea Charity Golf Day - July 2009

Jávea Golf Club Charity Day - 26th June 2010

The Javea Golf Charity day sponsored by Bay Radio was a great success and achieved all the objectives for the day.

MABS was the benefitting charity and they extend their immense gratitude to all involved.

There were numerous companies and individuals who all helped make this event a huge success and universal appreciation is due to them.

There were 90 players and they all enjoyed excellent playing conditions with a warm sunny day and occasional light winds to help keep the temperatures down to acceptable levels. The course was in excellent condition and so no excuses for not delivering a good score and with the benefit of a shotgun start it meant that no one was left waiting for hours whilst the rest of the field finished.

In addition to the golf competition there were 30 stalls offering all sorts of diversions for the family and with the various sponsored holes all helping to boost the funds the event produce 6000 Euros for MABS. In the early evening a number of items were put under the auctioneer's hammer and that too swelled the coffers by a further 1000 Euros.

So lots of winners on the day but the major winner was MABS whose charitable work in offering support for cancer suffers deserves every euro and, on their behalf, many thanks for your generosity.

Jávea Charity Golf Day - July 2009

Jávea Golfers support Help - July 2009

A total of 5,200€ was raised for HELP of Denia and Marina Alta by the players and the supporters of Jávea Golf Club at the Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday 18th July. The tournament was organised by Jávea Golf Club in conjunction with Bay Radio and sponsored by Silvasol of Jávea, who also organised a special draw for the players donating a prize of an air conditioning unit. There were over 100 entrants who took part in the competition and as it was a very hot day the bottles of chilled water kindly donated by Iceland and handed out by HELP volunteers during the course of the day were more than welcomed by the golfers on their way around the course. Besides donating a mobile phone as a prize for the raffle, Europa also sponsored two holes in the competition and their representative Gemma, and her young assistant Lauren were there all day assisting the HELP volunteers. Prizes for the tournament were provided by the Golf Club. The overall winners in Category One of the Tournament were Barry Selby and Robert Smith, and the winners in Category Two were Alan and Carol Grant.

Pictured here with HELP Chairman Pat Lee-Patton are Carol and Frank Warrington who were placed third in Category Two of the competition. They were particularly pleased with this achievement, as only last year Frank was suffering from a serious lung infection and never expected to be able to play golf again, so receiving this prize was a major bonus. Carol his wife attributed his successful recovery in no small way to the assistance offered to him during his illness and subsequent recovery by the HELP organisation.

Jávea Golf Club and the HELP Organisation would like to thank the sponsors and those who generously donated prizes for the raffle, including Noel Eastwell (Viva), Campbell Lamont, A2B Taxis, Soleil Restaurant Moraira, De Pelo Hair Stylists, La Pista Restaurant, Jalon, Gareth at Ancona Golf Academy, J&S Hair & Beauty, Benidoleig and Bar Quo Vadis, Jávea. The lucky winner of the main prize, a laptop computer, was Mr Schmolzer.

Johnny Vegas and Help For Heroes - March 2009

Johnny Vegas and Help For Heroes - March 2009

Johnny Vegas took a break from filming his hit TV series Benidorm and dropped by the Bay Radio studios. We had agreed to record Johnny voicing some adverts for the Forces’ charity Help for Heroes for The Sun.

The charity provides care and facilities for servicemen and women injured in the line of duty. Help for Heroes is very simple; they are strictly non political, accept that wars happen under any government and are not critical; they simply want to help. See http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/.

Johnny told us he was very glad to be able to his bit to help our servicemen and women who "do a very difficult job in very tough circumstances in the world’s trouble spots".

Following the recordings, Johnny took the Bay Radio team to a local hostalry for "a few" libations. Cue sore heads all round for the Bay Radio team the next day! Johnny was a real star all night, posing for countless photographs and signin autographs. He later headed back down the road to his adopted part of the Costa Blanca.

BayRadio Nude Calendar - December 2008

BayRadio Nude Calendar - December 2008

In the best tradition of the Calendar Girls and the naked firemen, this winter the BayRadio team got their togs off and posed themselves carefully(!) for a nude calendar.

As you can imagine, the calendar sold out in no time at all, and now adorns the walls of listeners’ kitchens up and down the Costa Blanca!

The calendar raised 1000€, which went to the BayRadio Charity Fund for the Gandia Children’s Home.

Gandia Children’s Home Party

Gandia Children’s Party - December 2008

On Wednesday 17th December we hosted another Christmas party for the children from Gandia at the Club Deportivo football ground in Jávea.

We brought all 43 children down to Jávea for a fun day out, to enjoy party games, face painting, a bouncy castle and lots of yummy party food!

This is a time when these Children are really in need, and need to know that we all care, so let’s do all we can for them this winter.

To get involved, phone the BayRadio studios on 96 579 6761 or email us.

Race For Life 2008

Race For Life - September 2008

The annual race for life was a great success again this year, Around 400 “runners” crossed the starting line of the 5km event on Sunday 21st September and pounded the streets of Jávea in bright sunshine and rising temperatures.

Once again, the money raised will go to help the invaluable work of the Cancer Support Group (MABS).

As usual BayRadio were really pleased to be asked to host the event, as it was a great opportunity to meet some of our listeners face to face and also for them to put a face to a Voice!!

Because let’s face it, we’re a stunning bunch of presenters!!!!!

Keep listening to BayRadio for more Charity Appeals here on the Costa Blanca, and get your trainers on and start getting fit for Race For Life in 2009.

Jávea Charity Golf Day - June 2008

Our golf day was a tremendous success. The tickets for the day were 50€ with 100% of the money going to the Preventorio as we needed an extra 10,000€ to add to the fund in order to pay for central heating for the orphanage.

For the same reason, we also sold raffle tickets and allsorts of wonderful prizes were donated by local businesses, including a brand-new laptop and tickets for Benidorm Palace. With your help we raised 20,000€ and the work has now started.

Christmas On Air Campaign 2007

When we put out a plea for help on air at Christmas time for toys and donations of whatever you could afford for the children in Gandia we had NO idea of the sort of response we would get - it was truly astonishing. You turned up in your droves with toys and gifts, and even Christmas trees! TWO VAN LOADS to be exact!

Added to that, you also donated money — in excess of 3,500€. This humbled us so very much and we can’t thank you enough for helping so much.
