Sunday Brunch Wine Tasting with Colin Harkness
The Wine List
Featured wine for March 7th :
I have two suggestions for the main course here, hopefully to suit those who like red and those who prefer white wines. Pizza means Italy so let's go with an Italian style red wine.
For the red, let's try a Tempranillo, similar in flavour to Sangiovese, the classic Chianti grape variety which often accompanies Pizza. Denominación de Origen Navarra is an area of production near La Rioja and Navarra's Bodegas Viñedos de Calidad make an economically priced 100% Tempranillo, in their Alex range.
For white wine lovers I think we need one with some body, meaning a grape variety that's big enough to stand up to Pepperoni, with some oak ageing to add depth of flavour too. Again I've gone for an economical choice - DO Alicante's Bodegas Bocopa's Laudum Chardonnay which has a surprising depth for its price.”
Enjoy!
