Peppered steak would be super with a Cabernet Sauvignon. A Crianza (aged in oak and bottle) or a Reserva (aged in oak and bottle for longer) would fit the bill nicely. Tasting notes about Cabernet Sauvignon often include references to black pepper and even green, pepper, both of which are in this recipe.
However there is a slightly oriental influence here with the ginger, soy and brown sugar which should also be covered. I'll stay with the Cabernet but blended with perhaps fruity Merlot or Monastrell and I'd look for a semi-crianza (less time in oak and bottle) to give it the body it will need without influencing the fruit too much.”
