WHO ARE SCAN?   The Society for the Care of Animals in Need

We are a registered charity rescuing and re-homing abandoned cats and dogs. Many animals arriving at our shelter have been abused, are sick, starving, and some are only hours away from death. Animals leaving our shelter go on to live in caring, loving homes, never again to be maltreated or go hungry.

Over 2000 cats and dogs rescued and re-homed in the last 5 years…..

 

Gala Event – Friday 8th June 2018 – Casa de Cultura, El Verger.

 

‘Elton’ & ‘Gordon’ pay a flying visit to El Verger for a S.C.A.N.

Gala ‘Great British Bake-Off (ish)’ evening at Casa de Cultura!

 

Recent arrivals to Costa Blanca North Richard Haddon and Michiel Verkoren are delighted to be organising a fundraising gala evening for the El Verger based animal charity S.C.A.N. (Society for the Care of Animals in Need).

 

Following the departure from their award winning Cotswold Inn, The Swan at Ascot (Best Traditional Pub – Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards 2016) and in search of a new life under the Spanish sun, the boys have recently started their fledgling company www.wedospecialevents.com (website still being built!) focusing on a variety of events both in Spain and back in the U.K.

 

They are about to work with T.V.’s favourite antiques expert Mark Stacey (‘Antiques Road Trip’, ‘Bargain Hunt’ and ‘Flog It!’) at a fundraising auction in Oxfordshire.

 

Prior to becoming Landlords, Michiel & Richard both had extensive theatrical careers in London’s West End, nationally in the U.K. and also further afield.

 

Having arranged numerous events at their Inn (& elsewhere), which have included guest appearances as diverse as International and West End stage star Barbara Dickson to the legendary group ‘The Wurzels’ together with some of the very best tribute acts that Britain can offer;; ‘Abba’, ‘Michael Jackson’, ‘Tina Turner’, ‘George Michael’ and ‘Kylie Minogue’ to name a few, the boys have managed to entice ‘Ultimate Elton’ and a very special guest judge (see posters) for the ‘Bake-Off (ish)’ competition to El Verger for the evening – both are flying into Alicante on the day & returning home the next morning!

 

‘Ultimate Elton’ has featured on the front page of the Daily Mail as he was booked by the real Elton John’s mother to perform at her very own birthday party!

 

And anybody wanting the chance to be selected to enter the ‘Bake-Off(ish)’ competition only has to bake a cake and bring it with them on the evening!

 

Also performing will be Costa Blanca resident and guitarist the brilliant John Anthony who will be playing solo guitar as he welcomes guests to the event.

 

Promising to be a fun-packed evening with a bar, prizes for fancy dress ‘Best Elton’, lucky ticket number holder, raffle plus wine bottle tombola to boot!

 

Tickets are 29euros which also includes a 3 course meal!
