Spain’s feminist movement rally across the country

BayRadio | January 16, 2019

Spain’s feminist movement rallied across the country yesterday against far-right party Vox for seeking to scrap tough laws against gender violence.
Thousands of people, mainly women, gathered outside Andalusia’s regional parliament in Sevilla, where Vox is today endorsing a conservative coalition government made up the Partido Popular and Ciudadanos, putting an end to 36 years of Socialist rule in Spain’s most populous region.
The slogan for the protests called by feminist groups is: “No step backwards in terms of equality”.

Vox initially made scrapping Spain’s gender violence laws a condition for its support for the coalition government in the region, but eventually dropped the demand.
