30 arrested in major social security fraud investigation

Policia Nacional have arrested 30 people, some locally, in connection with social security fraud that was worth over €27.5m.

Operation “Pandora” saw raids carried out in La Palma, Alicante, Barcelona, as well as in premises in Alicante, the Canaries, Madrid, Malaga, the Balaerics and a dozen other locations across the country.

It’s understood that the fraud centred around fake businesses and the fraudulent creation of paperwork, as well as fraudulent use of assets and also sales on the black market.

Policia Nacional have warned that more arrests may still be made in relation to the case.
