€15,000 forged banknotes confiscated

National Police have arrested 18 people in connection with distributing forged euros that had been bought on the dark web.
Over €15,000 worth of forged banknotes were confiscated in raids carried out across the country, including locally.
The buyers had hoped that by purchasing using cryptocurrencies and also using the dark web, they would avoid detection by authorities, however the operation was in fact a sting by officers.
