King Felipe and Queen Letizia are to visit Gran Canaria to view the areas affected by August’s forest fires that caused widespread devastation across a large area of the island.

The couple will hold a meeting with the regional president and the regional Government in Las Palmas before visiting the Tejeda-Valleseco area.

10,000 people had to be evacuated during the fires; the worst seen on the islands in recent years.
