SPANISH company Vicky Foods is heading north to launch a production plant in France as part of its “ambitious” plan to become a global player.

The successful bread and pastry maker, based in Valencia, will open a factory in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region with an investment of nearly €45 million and plans to be operating by the end of 2022.

Formerly called Dulcesol, the company had a turnover of €320 million in 2020 and expects its new base to achieve €25 million in sales by the end of its first year.

The site of the new plant was chosen for its key logistics – it will supply France and the neighbouring countries of Germany, Switzerland and Northern Italy. The French market already accounts for 36% of international business.

The baker already has four production sites. Three are in Spain and one in Algeria – opened in 2014 – and employs more than 2,600 people.
