Spain sees highest number of daily COVID-19 infections since May – stats here

Spain has just seen the highest number of daily coronavirus infections since May 8th – nearly three months ago.

A total of 730 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 across the country in a 24-hour period up to 2pm today (Wednesday, July 22nd).

A figure so high has not been seen since May 8th, when 1095 people tested positive to the novel coronavirus by PCR testing.

New daily infections hovered around the 100s and 200s until July, when cases have started to rise again.

The autonomous community of Aragon had the lion’s share of new infections, with 309 of the 730 total.

In the last 14 days, Spain has recorded 14,520 new infections by PCR. The country’s total is currently 267,511 since the start of the pandemic.
