Spain retains position as global organic food producer

The production of organic foods in the country continues to rise, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

The number of organic food producers rose 5.3% compared to last year, meaning Spain retains it’s position as the world leader in the field.

Last year nearly a quarter of a million hectares of land was added to the area used for organic food production, an increase of 3.7% over the last five years.
