Government release outline plans for this year’s budget

Public transport and the road network across the country look set to be the main beneficiary to the proposed budget that was released yesterday by the government.

€8.5bn will be invested in national infrastructure, including €3.7bn on the rail network and €2.08bn on roads.

Airports look set to get a cash injection of 20% more funding this year, totalling €751 million. As airports, navigation systems will be upgraded, and there is plans for increases in subsidies for domestic services, focusing on routes that connect the mainland to outlaying islands.
