Altea stag night leads to coronavirus outbreak and lockdown restrictions in Albacete

BayRadio | August 17, 2020

Albacete’s provincial health department has decreed the closing of bars in Villamalea – 1hr 30mins from Valencia city – as well as cessation of religious activity after a coronavirus outbreak of 29 cases.

The cases are related to a stag night that happened in Altea over the last few weeks and led to 11 PCR-confirmed cases in Villamalea, a document from Villamalea’s Ayuntamiento said.

The remainder of the cases were linked to a family-run mushroom cultivation business, which led to 17 cases within the family and a worker at a client’s restaurant.

The town could go into a full lockdown if cases don’t improve.

To tackle the spread, all casinos, bars and religious centres have closed, while visits are prohibited at care homes.

Only two people a time will be allowed into business premises, while funerals will have a maximum attendance of 10 people.

En los velatorios habrá un máximo de 10 personas y no se podrán celebrar ni bodas ni bautizos u otros eventos sociales.

En los comercios, se permitirá un máximo de dos personas a la vez en su interior.
