PCR drive-through tests for COVID-19 at Edinburgh and Gatwick airport for £60

BayRadio | December 1, 2020

Passengers can pre-book a PCR test for £60 – members of the public pay £99. Book Gatwick test here; Edinburgh here.

Drive-through COVID-19 testing is now available at Gatwick and Edinburgh airports from £60.

Passengers and staff can pre-book a PCR test on the ExpressTest website before receiving a QR code with their testing time.

The facilities are open from 8am-8pm from Monday-Sunday including for members of the public, who pay £99.

A group discount is also offered, with up to 30% off for groups of four or more, for those who are booking the full priced test.

News of the service saw the ExpressTest website crash on Saturday – the company plans to roll-out 30 more drive-through centres in the next few months.

Results of a PCR test will arrive by email or text the ‘next day’, according to the FAQ section of the ExpressTest website.

A ‘Fit to fly’ certificate will then be issued, allowing passengers to depart the country – passengers leaving the UK are recommended to book a test 48-72 hours BEFORE departure.

Bear in mind the centre is DRIVE-THROUGH, and not available for walk-in.

Equally, from 15th December international arrivals in the UK can take a PCR test 5 days after arrival and skip the extra week of quarantine – read more here.

The ExpressTest company wishes to distribute home testing kits in the near future.

Location

The ExpressTest site is located within the Long Stay Car Park in Gatwick South Terminal.

When arriving for your appointment follow the signs for South Terminal Long Stay Car Park, and then signs for ExpressTest. Staff on site will direct you through the drive through facility and you will be swabbed while you remain in your car.

The new coronavirus ExpressTest site at Edinburgh Airport is located in front of the terminal in the FastPark area of the car park.

The site has been available to use for passengers, Edinburgh Airport staff and the public from Wednesday 25 November.
