Spain suffers the worst number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic

BayRadio | January 18, 2021
Coronavirus infections are soaring across Spain with more than 57,000 new cases in the last two days, the worst weekend since the pandemic began in March.

The third wave of coronavirus hits Spain hard, leaving some of the worst data since the beginning of the pandemic. The country has added more than 56,500 new positive cases over the past two days (Saturday and Sunday).

This is the highest number of new infections reported over the weekend since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March. In addition, this data could be even greater, since some autonomous communities have not provided data for the weekend.

The vast majority of communities register a notable increase in the number of daily infections and Spain registered 408 deaths in the last 48 hours, also corresponding to the weekend. Data that could be greater today, when the Government communicates the figures of all communities.

Despite these worrying data, the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, assured that the Government was not considering a house confinement.
