Beware of downloading Whatsapp Pink. Police warn of dangerous malware

SPANISH police warned today of the dangers of downloading the ‘cute’ looking Whatsapp Pink app onto android phones.

The National Police said the malware will infect mobile devices and appears to come from a known contact and be from the genuine Whatsapp service.

However, police advise users to simply delete the message – simply opening the message or granting permission to download risks infecting a phone with a virus geared up to stealing data and a list of contacts.

Once voluntarily installed, the malware does not appear on the list of apps on the phone or even turn the Whatsapp screen pink; it just ‘takes control’ of the device as malicious software.
