THE man suspected to have viciously assaulted a nurse in a Madrid underground carriage was arrested by police hours after Spanish media reported the incident.
The 19-year-old was held in the district of Villaverde on Monday afternoon after someone recognised the teenager and reported his details to the authorities.
It is feared the victim has lost part of his vision in one eye after being punched. He was wearing sunglasses and news agency EFE has reported the suspect used a knuckle duster in the assault.
The incident took place last Thursday night when the male nurse reprimanded the youngster for not wearing a mask – a face covering is compulsory on public transport on Spain.
A passenger recorded the altercation on his mobile and the incident was also recorded by security CCTV. The alleged attacker is seen to throw a punch – the victim falling to the ground holding his face – the assailant, dressed in black and wearing a pink cap – jumps from the carriage onto the platform.
