A GROUP of pilgrims trekking along the world-famous Camino de Santiago have been infected with Covid-19, according to health authorities.

The outbreak was detected as a group of 28, mostly from the Valencia region, stayed in two overnight hostels in the Coruña municipality of O Pino – 22 tested positive for coronavirus.

The group, aged between 20 and 21, had reached the final stages of the pilgrimage when the tests were made. Instead of finishing the trek, the group has returned to their homes to self-isolate.
