A 19-year-old girl dies of coronavirus with no previous pathologies in Mallorca

A 19-year-old girl without previous pathologies has died in the Hospital of Son Espases (Mallorca) due to COVID-19. This is the youngest person who has died from this virus in the Balearic Islands. A case that has surprised doctors by the aggressiveness of Sars-CoV-2.

The girl was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as confirmed by the Health Service. The young woman had been admitted more than a week ago to the emergency room of the Son Llàtzer hospital from where she was referred to the critical unit of the Hospital Son Espases.

The patient, who had not yet begun the vaccination process, died last Saturday from coronavirus.

The Balearic Epidemiology Service reports 898 deaths, according to the latest data. The incidence in Spain falls 27 points and stands at 317 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, according to the latest report of the Ministry of Health, which reveals that in the last week 867 deaths have been reported by coronavirus.

By communities, Madrid has the highest hospital pressure (11.7%), followed by the Basque Country (9.4%) and the Balearic Islands (9.3%).
