BayRadio | September 9, 2021

The Andalusian Government has activated level 1 of the Infoca Plan due to the fire declared yesterday in Sierra Bermeja in the province of Malaga. Due to the severity of the flames, more than 250 professionals, including firefighters, technicians and specialists who have been working since last night to try to control several fires, have moved to the area.

At the moment more than 600 people have had to be evicted from different urbanizations because of the danger that the flames reach the different and chalets that there are in the area.

The fire is already spreading in the municipalities of Estepona, Jubrique, Genalguacil and Benahavís, where another entire urbanization has had to be vacated as a precaution against the flames. In recent hours another hundred people have had to leave their homes.

In addition, the roads MA-8301 and MA-8302 have been cut off to traffic as well as a section of the AP-7 between kilometers 157 to 171, in both directions due to the dense smoke caused.

The orography of the land is difficult, as it has very steep slopes and because strong gusts of wind from Poniente also blow, making it difficult to extinguish the fire.
