Pedro Sánchez has acknowledged in a press conference with the Danish Prime Minister that in Spain the conditions to remove the mask in the interior spaces already exist. The President of the Government hopes to be able to address the debate on the removal of masks indoors “soon” and “sooner rather than later” at the Inter-territorial Health Conference after hearing the opinion of experts and health care providers.

This confession of Pedro Sánchez was made at a press conference on Monday after a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen at the Moncloa Palace. Denmark is the country that on 2 February lifted all restrictions against the coronavirus.

“Thanks to the contribution of science, we have fewer and fewer cases and the incidence does nothing but go down,” said Sánchez.

The removal of the masks indoors is not going to take place immediately, but it will be “when science and healthcare professionals say”, explained the president of the government, something he hopes will occur “sooner rather than later”.

For her part, the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, wanted to explain that in Denmark they have removed all restrictions on the Covid-19 due to the progress in vaccination with booster doses. In addition, she congratulated Spain on the results of the vaccination campaign, with 91% of the population over 12 years of age vaccinated with the complete regimen of the coronavirus vaccine.

The head of the Danish executive wanted to add that measures against the coronavirus are not extrapolatable between countries because all this depends on the percentage of vaccination against the disease, something that is different in each territory.
