Ukrainian troops continue to organize on various fronts to defend Kiev after more than a month since the Russian invasion began. The Russian Army is slowly advancing, which has caused a favorable point for Ukraine, which regains control of the city of Irpín, as confirmed by Zelenski.

“We have good news, our defenders are advancing in the Kiev region, regaining control of Ukrainian territory. We have released Irpín, good work,” says Zelenski.

The mayor, Oleksandr Markushyn, has also confirmed that they regain absolute control of the city. For days they began to retreat until Ukraine has taken it again.

Ukraine regains control of part of the Ukrainian terrain. The Russian Army is losing more and more power and the number of soldiers killed is increasing considerably. Russian President Vladimir Putin has begun to look for new soldiers, such as Chechens or Syrian fighters. The Ukrainian Defense Forces “continue to maintain the circular defense of the city of Mariupol and defend and deter the enemy’s advance in the Chernigov region,” the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicate.

Ukraine says more than 20,000 Russian soldiers would have been killed since the beginning of the invasion. Although the figure is not recognized by the Russians, branded as “exaggeration of the Western press”.

The situation in Ukraine remains dramatic, especially in Mariúpol. Ukrainian local authorities report 5,000 dead, 210 children, where around 160,000 people remain trapped without basic services such as running water or electricity.

They report that 90 per cent of the city’s total housing stock has suffered structural damage, amounting to around 5,000 houses. In addition, more than 60,000 homes in the private sector have been damaged, according to ‘Babel’.

Ukraine believes that Putin has reinforced his army in Belarus and that he could launch an attack on Kiev in the coming days, in the northern area. However, at the moment there are no large movements of Russian tanks.
