Santiago De Compostela Fiestas

“There are three Thursdays in the year that shine brighter than the sun…” And that saying is engraved on fire by the people of Compostela. The festivities of La Ascensión, together with those of the Apostle Santiago already in the month of July, are the respite of the residents of the Galician capital. After a 2020 with the suspended celebrations and a 2021 with an atmosphere certainly decaffeinated, returns to Compostela the hustle and bustle of the festivities of The Ascension.

The program has already been presented and Santiago will recover its huge ferris wheel, attractions, street stalls and the large popular tent in which to taste octopus and steak. But in addition to the classics and fireworks, this year will also be heard in the Plaza da Quintana the Tanxugueiras and in the Plaza do Obradoiro the orchestra Paris de Noia, among many other musical groups.

From 26 to 29 May, in addition, the bigheads and bagpipes will return to the streets of the old area, the horse fair will be held, attended by hundreds of curious families attracted by the buying and selling operations of animals, and the puppets will return to the Alameda park for the little ones.

Almost all the activities are free and will allow Compostela and tourists to return to enjoy the most popular celebration of the Galician capital. The festivities of La Ascensión are installed, again, in Santiago.
