Ukraine does not speak of surrender after the evacuation of 264 soldiers from the Azovstal steelworks in the Ukrainian city of Mariúpol, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. In the middle of the Russo-Ukrainian war both countries have reached an agreement to make effective the exit of these military personnel.

A total of 53 seriously injured were evacuated to a hospital and the other 211 people were taken to Olenivka through the humanitarian corridor, the ministry explained in a statement. ” The most important common task of all Ukraine and the whole world is to save the lives of the defenders of Mariúpol”.

The invasion of Ukraine 2022 continues and contacts between Moscow and Kiev continue because there are still soldiers in the Azovstal steelworks although the exact number of soldiers remaining inside the plant is unknown. The Ukrainian president does not speak of surrender and assures that now the important thing is to keep them all alive because Ukraine needs “living heroes”.

President Volodymir Zelenski thanked this evacuation: “I want to emphasize that Ukraine needs living Ukrainian heroes. This is the main thing, anyone will understand these words,” he said.

A humanitarian corridor has been opened through which the wounded soldiers have been evacuated from the site and “taken to a medical centre in Novoazovsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic, where all necessary assistance will be provided”.
