Fire Ávila

In Santa Cruz del Valle, in Ávila, some 400 troops fight the advance of the flames and try to contain a forest fire that they believe could have been provoked. Conditions at the site are very unfavourable and the fire has already burned more than 1,000 hectares. In the last hours, the urbanization of ‘El picadero’, in Pedro Bernardo, has had to be evacuated by the proximity of the flames.

This is reported by the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Spatial Planning on its official Twitter account. The Board maintains level 2 dangerousness due to the forest fire in the province of Ávila. One more night, the neighbors are still watching the phenomenon originated last Friday. They live in fear and claim that they were afraid that summer would come and there would be dangerous fires.

The population feels “powerless” since that dreadful summer has already arrived. The forecasts of the fire in Santa Cruz del Valle are not optimistic. For his part, the mayor of Pedro Bernardo, David Segovia, has detailed that “sadly”, the situation “will last a few days”. ” This already makes us think about it,” he says. Also, some 30 aircraft are working on extinction.

It is a very “complicated” fire because there is a lot of fuel and the terrain that hinders the arrival of terrestrial means.

In addition to the fire in Ávila, there are currently five active fires in Spain. One of the most worrying is that of Cures (Boiro, Pontevedra), the most voracious of those registered in the Galician area since 2019. More than 2,200 hectares have already been burned, and although the situation is favourable, level 2 of dangerousness is maintained as a preventive measure of the proximity of the flames to the houses.

There is also concern about the flames in a cereal field in the Alava town of Santa Cruz del Fierro. Firefighters have been smothering the flames all night from Sunday to Monday. At the moment, the fire is controlled but not extinguished.
