Mark Deakin

Mark Deakin was born in Liverpool. He’s the proud grandfather to Martín, who so far is the only one who we think likes his jokes…. Mark knows all there is to know about 80’s music, and is quite passionate about the groups he doesn’t like – we just make him play them anyway.

He bought his bought first twin turntable, in 1980 and soon after started an 8 year residency at Pepe’s nightclub in St Helens. In 1992 he emigrated to Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria where he ran the islands busiest bar.

Over the next 12 years Mark was a regular cover DJ for bars such as Lineker’s, Piccadilly’s and Covent Garden.
In 2002 Mark moved to Almeria, where he continued to DJ.

In 2005 he joined Valley Radio where he presented the breakfast show for 3 years until moving to Smooth FM on the Costa Blanca, where he enjoyed over 9 years presenting the mid-day music mix, before buying the station!

In 2015 Mark moved again, this time to Javea where he joined the BayRadio team!
