As a Lynwen Cancer Care Nurse, you will play a vital role in the healthcare team dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to patients battling cancer. 

Your primary focus will be on delivering comprehensive nursing care throughout the continuum of the cancer treatment process.

This includes assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and educating patients and their families about treatment options and self-care strategies. 

You will work closely with oncologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that each patient receives the highest quality of care tailored to their unique circumstances and preferences. 

Emotional support is a substantial aspect of your role, as many patients and families experience fear, anxiety, and uncertainty during their cancer journey. 

Your ability to communicate effectively, provide compassionate care, and empower patients with knowledge will make a significant difference in their experiences and outcomes. 

In this challenging yet rewarding environment, you will continuously enhance your skills in oncology nursing and stay updated on the latest advancements in cancer treatments, ultimately leading to better patient experiences and improved health outcomes.

The position is based in the Marina Alta and consists of work in the hospital and the patient’s home.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
• Monitor patient progress, response to treatment, and any side effects.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans and options.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive cancer care.
• Educate patients and families about cancer, treatment modalities, and self-care strategies.
• Assist in clinical trials and research initiatives related to cancer care.
• Participate in community outreach and support programs to raise awareness and provide education about cancer prevention.
• Educate patients and families on end-of-life care options and coping strategies.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure holistic patient care.
• Provide support and education to families about the dying process and grief management.

Requirements

• Current nursing registration with colegio in Alicante in good standing.
• Current clean driving license and car. 
• Fluent in English and Spanish. Proficient in Spanish and English reading and writing. 
• Full Understanding of the Spanish health and Social Services system 
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and family interactions.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Previous experience in oncology nursing or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ nursing experience, preferably in hospice or palliative care.
• Strong understanding of pain management and symptom control techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support patients and families.
• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
• Compassionate and empathetic disposition, with a desire to support patients at the end of life.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification in oncology/palliative nursing (OCN) preferred,
