Volunteers needed – MABS Cancer Support Foundation in Javea

BayRadio | December 3, 2020

MABS Cancer Support Foundation are seeking new volunteers to help in their Javea charity shop.

MABS is a long-established cancer charity on the Costa Blanca with charity shops from Oliva in the north down to Torrevieja in the south.

The organisation relies solely on the generosity of donors to raise funds.

The charity shops sell second-hand furniture, bric-a-brac, books, DVDs and electrical items

Volunteers are currently needed for the shop located on Avinguda de Paris in Javea (contact details below).

What does a volunteer do?

Volunteering is varied and immensely satisfying – MABS are looking for individuals who are ‘willing, hands-on and ready to get stuck in’.

Javea shop manager Audrey Millar told BayRadio:

“This could be liaising with and assisting customers, unpacking and sorting donations, running the hoover around the shop, pricing goods, researching unusual items received, organising books and DVDs … basically anything that needs doing!
“There is a fun and lively working environment and I even have volunteers thanking me for letting them come in!
“We have a very diverse client base with a multitude of nationalities and languages are an asset but not essential.
“Any knowledge of antiques, technology, electronics, homeware merchandising, retail strategies etc is also highly valued.
“However, the main attributes are a cheerful disposition, good people skills and willingness to work as part of a team.”

The Javea shop is open from 10:00 – 13:00, six days a week.
