23 years sleeping, 8 years working… The activities to which we devote most of our time throughout our lives

These are the most curious facts that reflect how much and in what we invest our time.

What we consider as a normal day, we spend eight hours sleeping and eight hours working, leaving another eight hours of free time that sometimes we don’t manage in the best way. How much time do we waste on insignificant matters throughout our lives? The answer leaves no one indifferent.

One day you’re young and the next day you turn the tables and wonder what you’ve been spending your time on all your life. A newspaper has ‘calculated’ how much and what the citizens of Spain spend their time on and has taken to the streets to see the reaction of the public.

We Spaniards spend an average of 500 days of our life, that is, a year and a half, just queuing in stores. ” I’m not surprised, here in Spain, everything takes longer,” replied a woman who was standing in line.

On the other hand, and although it may seem surprising, work “only” takes up, on average, between eight and nine years of our life. Of course, with an eight-hour working day, something that many Spaniards do not enjoy. ” I’m tired of working, “says a kiosk owner. “Considering that I am 23 years old and I am looking forward to working, I am fine”, responds a young woman also working an 8 hour work shift.

As far as leisure is concerned, we usually spend a little more than a year on recreational activities, something that really seems quite scarce. Most people prefer to rest. If we add up all the hours we sleep throughout our lives, we will find that we spend up to 23 years in the sack.

Another curious fact is that women spend up to two years in the bathroom, unlike the 117 days that men have. We invest even less time on ‘acts of love’, which does not exceed 110 days.

Given this data, we should ask ourselves what we are going to spend every minute of our life on, because, for the little time we have, we should make the most of it.
