An alleged gangmaster has been arrested after an illegal worker died of heatstroke at the weekend. The victim is 42-year-old man from Nicaragua, who was working in fields near Lorca in temperatures that reached 44°C. The man was taken to a health centre suffering from ‘serious effects of heat’ at around 15.30.

The latest official figures released by the Spanish Health Ministry yesterday for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19) is now 302,814. This is an overall increase of 5,760 against the figure released the day before, although the figures did on Monday not include data from Madrid, Catalonia or Navarra for ‘technical problems’. The ministry says that 1,178 infections occurred in the previous 24 hours.
