The Spanish government is trying to convince the UK to exclude the Balearic and Canary Islands from the quarantine decreed for travellers returning from Spain which came into force at the weekend. Two people have been arrested for assaulting two police officers who asked them to put on their masks in Alicante. Local Police issued 230 fines on Friday night alone for not wearing a mask, the average fine issued was €100 euros. Officers also closed down two shops and fined eight others, the fines for retail establishments are a lot more and can be as much as €3,000 euros!

The Spanish Ministry of Defence has sent the military into the town of Lepe in the province of Huelva, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus within the settlements of seasonal workers.
