A spanish beach campsite has been put in lockdown with 250 tourists barred from leaving after two holidaymakers tested positive for coronavirus. The Talai Mendi campsite in Zarautz, on the Spanish Basque coast, was immediately shut after one person came down with the deadly virus. A second person tested positive shortly after and tests have now been ordered on all 250 mostly-young people - including children - inside.
As coronavirus cases continued to mount in Spain, parliament has approved a €16 billion aid package to help regions cover the health, social and educational expenses of the pandemic. A 43-year-old British tourist has been arrested in Mallorca after coughing in diners faces and saying he had COVID-19 at several restaurants. Punters and bar owners called police after the 'visibly drunk' man wandered around terraces in Palma de Mallorca last Monday at 11pm. Two cities in Northern Spain have moved to what they're calling a “flexible” phase 2 of lockdown, after concerns over local transmission of the coronavirus.
The average number of daily flights across Spain rose to over 2,000 in the first week of July, doubling from the previous week but still only about a third of year-ago levels as the COVID-19 pandemic keeps travel constrained. Early July figures were much higher than the just 300 daily flights in the first week of May, back in July 2019, there were 5,000-6,000 daily flights on average.
