Spain’s top-flight women footballers have signed their first collective agreement on pay and conditions, breaking an impasse with sporting authorities which led to a strike last November. The agreement guarantees Primera Division players a minimum salary of 16,000 euros per year as well as paid holiday and maternity leave among other benefits.
Leganes FC have ask La Liga if they can sign a replacement for Martin Braithwaite, who is expected to join Barcelona in an emergency transfer. Barca have been allowed to make the emergency signing of Braithwaite outside of the transfer window because of injuries to Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.
New figures show that 29.9% of children live below the poverty line in Spain, a figure that has severely increased since the financial crisis. The study reveals that in 2008 during the rate of child poverty in single income homes was 35.5%. Ten years later, that figure has rose to 48%. This gives Spain one of the highest rates of child poverty in Europe.
A total of 743,713 passengers passed through Alicante-Elche Airport during January, which represents a decrease of 5.3% compared to January 2019. A former mayor of Manilva near Malaga has been arrested for her alleged role in helping launder money for the Italian mafia. Antonia Muñoz was cuffed alongside 12 others yesterday following a lengthy investigation by Policia Nacional and Malaga’s Money Laundering Unit. Officers carried out around 20 raids, seizing cash and mountains of documents which will now be analysed by experts.
