National Police have broken up an organisation who specialised in vehicle theft. They are alleged to have stolen 80 vehicles which were then modified for shipment to North Africa. 20 people have been arrested, eleven in Alicante and nine in France. Its members were of Arab descent and of French and Algerian nationality, their gang leaders lived in Alicante and Figueres.

The US has issued a security alert for its citizens visiting Spain in response to a rise in the number of reported sexual assaults across the country.

Students and tourists are advised to "drink responsibly" and avoid travelling alone in a set of guidelines published by the US embassy in Spain. The embassy also advised citizens to familiarise themselves with the law. Spain's interior ministry has reported a steady increase in sexual assaults nationally in recent years.

Police uncover a fraud of 6 million for the collection of pensions for the deceased

National Police, in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Social Security, have uncovered fraud valued at almost 6 and a half million Euros made by the illegal collection of pensions of people who have died during the past year.  Police have arrested eleven of the 36 people involved in the scam in 21 provinces. They have been charged with 55 crimes against Social Security, fraud, document falsification and misappropriation.

A Spanish judge has sanctioned a new probe into the deaths of a British pastor and his two children in a Costa del Sol swimming pool.

Gabriel Diya's widow has got the go-ahead for the 'parallel investigation' she called for after the Christmas Eve tragedy.  Mr Diya, 52, his son Praise-Emmanuel, 16, and daughter Comfort, nine, drowned in the pool at the holiday resort in Fuengirola, Police say it was an accident but an engineer and a professional diver hired by Mrs Diya's lawyer will now be allowed access to the Club La Costa World pool.
